Remember when the phrase “It’s the eonomy, stupid” helped Bill Clinton beat Bush The Elder in 1992? GHW Bush was leveraging foreign policy issues, and James Carville put the phrase in Clinton’s office as a reminder of what would really stir up American sentiment. Now, as Bush II has destroyed our foreign policy (among 2,456 other critical areas of American concern), and (Mc)Bush III persists in chatting up Republican foreign policy machismo (the word stupid really comes to mind here), Mister McBush Magoo McCain has offered up this brilliant assessment of our serious recession: “It’s psychological.”
