A couple of weeks ago I posted Blazing Saddles VII photos and a video of stills (with music) on the Payden Memorial Foundation Web site. I thought those who pledged my ride (for over $1000!) and those who rode, sponsored, and volunteered would like to check it out:

NOTE: Blazing Saddles is an annual fundraising bicycle ride to benefit kids with cancer. Now in its seventh year, the event (July 19, 2008) raised$43,500 for families in need who have kids with cancer.

Jesus on a wheel, or the Reel Jesus is in Livingston

All over the world people are claiming to see the face of Jesus on everything from pretzels to utility poles. I saw him myself, ahem, on this cable reel sitting in a field (not Jesus, the reel) near Fleshman Creek Road.
Look at the face in the bottom center of this picture and tell me that is not Jesus. (Click the picture for a larger, completely convincing view.) It is at least the Western white guy edition of the man. (According to some forensic anthropologists, Jesus probably really looked like this. Huge disappointment for the Western white guys, to be sure.)
I’m not mocking Jesus. I wish he’d come back, show the real face, have breakfast at Pinky’s, and kick some Rich People Butt. But that’s my Jesus, the one who said the rich guy should distribute his wealth or else not get into heaven, which might be easier for you and me to get into than the Ameya Preserve, a rich guy’s pseudo-green heaven on earth.
A symbol of what Bush has done to America

While loafing at the Olympic games in Beijing, presumptive (but never elected) President Bush
held up the American flag. Backwards, of course.
Seems a perfect image for his breathtaking idiocy and for his handling of the country itself.
Won’t it be nice to have a president with a brain, and the will and integrity to treat us and the country with respect? Hint: Such a man is not John McCain.
