Livingston Roundup Rodeo ParadeHere is an mp4 movie of still photos from this year’s annual Livingston Roundup Rodeo Parade. [Revised 7/8/08 to include some photos I forgot to include the first time.] The theme was aliens, or Star Wars/Star Trek, or something like that. Not every participant got the theme, but those who did–the Montana Spay/Neuter Task Force with it’s wonderful treatment of both Star Wars and Star Trek characters and themes, the Stafford Animal Shelter with it’s space pets and foil hats, and the kids with the light swords–got it in style. Before the parade, Governor Schweitzer presented a grant check to the Senior Center for much needed building repairs and renovations, and also unveiled the Montana Main Street program’s new logo. But the real treat, as ever, was seeing the children. Click the play button to start.

Notes:
“America the Beautiful” is performed by Peggo and Paul.
The Enterprise article (Thursday 7/3) confused the Stafford and the Spay/Neuter Task Force floats/groups, but just look at the signs and you can tell who is who.
Livingston’s 9th Street Bridge endangered
June 20, 2008 | Filed Under Breaking News, Seriously/Real Stuff, Around town | 1 Comment
On Thursday the rapid and rising Yellowstone River undermined a pier on the 9th Street Bridge causing it to sag. Island residents were evacuated on foot, wearing helmets and life vests and escorted by emergency crew. Some of the folks who chose to stay on the island were evacuated by helicopter today. It is estimated that about 10 people remain on the island as well as numerous pets and some horses. The bridge continues to drop and the Montana Department of Transportation believes that it will collapse. Search and Rescue boats and Bailey Bridge components were brought in. Flood advisory, hydrology report, and news links follow the slide show.
