UPDATE 5/21: See the video
Senator Barack Obama’s appearance at the Crow Agency’s Apsaalooke Veterans Park does not require tickets. The outdoor event is 2:45 Monday, May 19. This is one of three stops that Obama has planned in Montana. The 2,000 tickets to Obama’s “Town Hall for Working Families” in Billings, and the 18,000 for the Bozeman Rally at MSU all went very quickly.
With no tickets necessary for the Crow Agency event, “The Crow Nation warmly welcomes and invites members of the public from across Montana to attend,” according to a press release from the tribe. The Crow Agency is in Hardin. The Crow Nation and the Assiniboine and Sioux Tribes of the Fort Peck Reservation have endorsed Senator Obama.
From the Crow Reservation Press Release:
Obama will focus on the struggles of working families in Indian communities and across Montana, and discuss his agenda for change.
“Few communities face larger challenges than Native Americans and few have been ignored by Washington for so long. It is time to give Native Americans a voice in the White House,” Senator Obama said. “We need to ensure that the White House has direct lines of communication with the various Native American tribes, and that we have a President who will meet regularly with the Native American leadership and ensure that our relationship is founded on dignity and respect.”
Earlier this week, the Crow Nation as well as the Ft. Peck Tribes endorsed Senator Obama, citing his commitment to Indian Country. “Senator Obama understands the challenges facing Native Americans in Montana,” said Crow Nation Chairman Carl Venne. “His record as a US Senator shows that he cares about Indian communities. He respects Indian sovereignty and is a strong advocate for Indian healthcare and education.”

Livingston Obama Office Open House a success

Last night the Livingston Office of Montana for Obama opened with a great evening of good food (and plenty of it!), live music from Sean Divine, inspiring words from Montana for Obama staffers as well as volunteer Gary Fish, and a room full of very happy people.
Folks signed up to volunteer, picked up tickets to the Monday night rally with Barack Obama in Bozeman, and enjoyed good conversation as well as Sean’s music. This is the happiest and most optimistic election year gathering I have seen in sixteen years, and it is rewarding to see how generous Livingston has been in its support of Senator Obama’s campaign. That campaign has done us all good, bringing more and more involvement to heal our ravaged democracy, and bringing community members closer together.

[The Quicktime video linked to from the above page is a large file and might take a while to load on slower connections. As for sound, my sympathies to most PC users without upgraded external speakers. Pics look best and video sounds best on a Mac.]
If you’d like to be a part of history, consider volunteering in the Livingston Office. Drop by 111 West Lewis Street during regular business hours (roughly 9 to 5) and see how you can help.
Everyone is welcome at the office. If you would like to get more info, just drop by. You don’t have to be a member of any particular party, nor do you have to have made up your mind to support Barack Obama to visit the office. That is the spirit of Senator Obama’s campaign.
